Domestic flight services are to be expanded in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority sources they have received a number of applications to start domestic flight services.


The sources said that applications to start domestic flights are being considered from Macksons Holdings, Upali Aviation, Asian Aviation, and several other companies.

Meanwhile applications are also being considered from a number of companies to start expand the domestic helicopter services.

SriLankan Airlines has expanded its sea plane service further. Presently, the service is available to Randenigala, Victoria, Polgolla, Nilaweli, Beruwala and Koggala destinations.

A new sea plane service from Colombo Beira Lake to Yidanganawa in Buttala is to be launched by SriLankan Airlines soon, Civil Aviation Authority says.

The demand for domestic flights and helicopter services has gone up with the increase of tourist arrivals to the country after the end of war.
