Sri Lanka student union leader arrested for transporting weapons

Sri Lanka police following a tip off received to 119 hotline have arrested a student union leader and a student of the Ruhuna University for allegedly transporting weapons.



The Thihagoda Police Wednesday (02) have arrested the convener of the Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), affiliated Inter University Students Federation (IUSF), Sanjeewa Bandara and a student representative of the Agricultural Faculty of Ruhuna University, Sri Lanka's National News Agency, Lankapuvath reported.

The Thihagoda Police have handed over the suspects to the Matara Police for further investigations.
