Opposition asks Sri Lankan government to share intelligence information with the Indian HC

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) today asked the government to share the information on the LTTE camps in Tamil Nadu with the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka.

UNP parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera told a press conference that the Sri Lankan government needed to reveal how it had found out about the LTTE training camps in Tamil Nadu.

He added that the information should be passed on to the Indian government if it was received form a source outside India.

Samaraweera made this comment in response to a statement made by Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne in parliament yesterday that the Sri Lankan government has received intelligence information that the LTTE was operating three training camps in Tamil Nadu, South India.

Jayaratne said that in one of the camps the LTTE cadres are being trained to assassinate VIPs.
