Sri Lanka secured a thrilling win against Zimbabwe today at the Pallekele Stadium to top the point table in the Group A ICC World Cup tournament.
Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga set a record double-century opening partnership in World Cup history to set a huge total of 328 for Zimbabwe to chase in the Group A ICC World Cup match at the Pallekele International Stadium today.
After winning the toss Zimbabwe's captain Elton Chigumbura set Sri Lanka to bat. In reply Dilshan added 144 and Tharanga added 133 to continue the partnership for 44.4 overs.
It was definitely Dishan's day today as he also took 4 wickets to limit Zimbabwe to 188 in the second half of the match.
Dilshan was the Man-of-the-Match for hitting a century and taking 4 wickets.
For Zimbabwe, Brendan Taylor showed his batting powers hitting 80 from 72 balls with 9 fours and one six.
Upbeat Sri Lanka will face New Zealand next on March 18 in Mumbai.
