Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Sri Lanka and Japan have agreed to open up more flight routes by the designated airlines of the two countries at specified locations.

The Japanese Embassy in Colombo said in a press release the Government of Japan and the Government of Sri Lanka have agreed to amend the schedule attached to the Agreement between the two governments for Air Services.

Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka Kunio Takahashi and the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation K. V. P. Ranjith de Silva signed the agreements on Monday (14) at the Japanese Embassy in Colombo.

"I believe this amendment is expected to open up an opportunity for operating new flights and thereby strengthening links between the two countries in various fields," Ambassador Takahashi has said.

With the newly signed amendment, flight routes operated by designated airlines of Japan and Sri Lanka will be liberated in principle, at the specified locations in Japan, Sri Lanka, intermediate points, and points beyond, the statement said.
