Sri Lanka government and Tamil National Alliance to talk again

The second round of discussions between Sri Lanka's major Tamil party, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Sri Lankan government to bring about political solutions is scheduled to take place on February 03, government sources say.

The discussions are to focus on seeking solutions for the problems of the Tamil community of Sri Lanka, especially, emphasizing the humanitarian work and reconstruction process in the North and East.

The Tamil National Alliance delegation is represented by MPs Suresh Premachandran, Mavai Senadhiraja and M.A.Sumanthiran.

The government is represented by Ministers Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka, Nimal Siripala de Silva, and Prof. G.L. Peiris.

The first round of discussions between the Government and the TNA were held on January 10 during which the two sides stressed the importance of having a dialogue.

These two parties are to function as a committee to further discussions. Galle district Parliamentarian Sajin Vas De Gunawardene will be the Secretary of this Committee.
