Sri Lanka's Marxist student union says there are attempts to create unrest among university students

Sri Lanka's Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) affiliated Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) has said that some elements are attempting to create unrest among university students.

IUSF President Sanjeewa Bandara has told the media that while two students from the Ruhuna University were attacked by an unknown group last Friday, the IUSF head of the Ruhuna University who had visited them in hospital had also been attacked by another group of unidentified persons.

The IUSF head of the Ruhuna University had been admitted to hospital for treatment.

However, Bandara has said the police arrested the IUSF head of the Ruhuna University while he was receiving treatment and released later.
